Andy Fortune
Art in Wood

Years of woodturning experience

Andy began his woodturning journey in 1989 when he attended a two day course at Craft Supplies in Millers Dale in Derbyshire. This kindled a passion for the craft but it wasn't until 1997 that he was able to buy a lathe and set up a basic workshop for himself.

From the start Andy made bowls and platters from fallen timber collected in the forests around Ivinghoe in Bedfordshire where he lived, using the defects and natural fissures in the wood to make unique pieces to sell. This was also the start of attending Craft Fairs and demonstrating at the nearby farm museum in Pitstone which furthered his passion for the craft.

After many years of turning and working as a plumber Andy was able to make the transition to woodtruning as a full time profession in 2013 and set up his business, The Mulberry Tree Woodturnery with the help and support of his Wife Nikki.

Through many years of experimentation and learning new woodturning techniques along the way Andy has now found a new passion for his latest work.
